Prosthodontics and Biometrics explained
Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing teeth or deficient teeth.Biometric guides
These are clues from the mouth and the face that allow the prosthodontist and his dental technician to reconstruct the teeth, as they would have been if they were not lost.In so doing the lips and cheeks gain support and the appearance particularly of the mouth is restored.
Because the teeth are returned to their correct position they do not interfere with the tongue, lips and cheeks, and consequently the dentures are more stable and feel firmer. This promotes the ability to use the teeth during eating and speaking.
